expertise / advanced security concepts
Often security concepts are focused on the installation of a large number of
standard security cameras. Although cameras are a useful and essential part of
most security concepts, you may achieve more effect for less if multiple
technologies are combined. These technologies may include audio recording,
RFID, biometrics, high resolution photo or video cameras, license plate recognition, etc.
The new soccer stadium of ADO Den Haag is an example how to combine various technologies into a single security concept. One of the problems to solve with this multiple technology approach involved the discrepancy between two operator needs: to have both overview and detail. The typical solution is a dome camera. Such a camera allows the operator to pan, tilt and zoom. However, usually operators favor a strong zoom resulting in a loss of overview. On the other hand, less zoom will result in the loss of potentially crucial details. A solution was found in the combination of multiple technologies. Besides the standard dome cameras several 3 mega pixel cameras were installed. These cameras allow to record all behaviour on the stands continuously but the level of detail is not sufficient to identify persons. For identification a photo camera on a moveable remote head was used. Every few minutes, from everyone on the stands a photograph with identification quality is taken. In this way, a limited extra investment resulted in a maximum effect!
Above we described only one example how a creative approach might result in an effective and affordable solution. If you want to learn more about the other parts of the concept such as audio, or want to discuss how this approach might apply to your organisation, please contact me directly.
